Known as ‘the fruit of the gods’ these delicious fruits are very high in vitamin A and are available from May to June. They are best eaten when crunchy or just as they start to soften but are still firm. Softer fruits can be used to make delicious smoothies and combine well with feijoas and oranges.

Persimmon trees are spectacular in the autumn as the fruits start to ripen. Their leaves turn from green to the most amazing hues of orange, yellow and reds. Walking through a persimmon orchard late autumn is quite an experience. Beautiful rich coloured fruit hanging from the trees, wonderful shades of every hue from green to yellow to gold to orange to red to crimson leaves on the trees and a carpet of the most spectacular hues on the ground.
